27. – 30.3. Amsterdam, Leeuwarden, Groningen

Welcome back to another Raggablog post. Last time we checked in was on our way to play in Amsterdam. Since then we have played 3 shows, seen more of the Netherlands, and had our first injury of the tour πŸ˜€

The show in Amsterdam was really fun. There weren’t a lot of people, but enough to get a nice groove going, and they really seemed to appreciate the music. ADM is a cool place, the people were super friendly and the groove was strong.

In the morning they were having a gardening day, which is a nice communal event where people show up to work on the gardens. There were kids running around, people making pancakes, and we were feeling the positive vibez flow. We even had a little percussion jam to start the day πŸ˜€

This should be a video. If you’re seeing this text, the video is still loading. Give it some time πŸ™‚

Then it was time to hit the road to Leeuwarden. The road there cuts straight across the sea. It’s just endless road, with sea on both sides as far as the eye can see. And also wind. Lots of wind.

We were frolicking around in the wind, taking silly pictures and being all relaxed. But there needs to be a certain stress level involved in touring, so we got served a nice helping of bad luck. Fazo slipped on some stairs and hurt his head. He’s OK, but we did have to take him to the doctor for a few stitches.

The show in Leeuwarden was more of a private affair. Which means we played for 10 people. I guess that’s what happens when your show is on a Monday that also happens to be the Easter holiday πŸ˜€

We still had fun hanging out at the Morgue in Leeuwarden, which used to be an actual morgue. The guys there told us that there is an unexploded bomb from the Second World War buried somewhere on the property, but no one knows where. Should be OK though, as long as no one goes digging holes πŸ˜€

In the morning we went for a walk in Leeuwarden, stopped at a coffee shop, and continued to Groningen for our final show in the Netherlands.

Groningen is the only show of our tour where we play with another band. It was really cool meeting the dudes from And the Wasters, a band from Bristol. We had a nice evening together, which dragged into the small hours of the night.

It was a fitting end to the Netherlands part of our tour. This country has been good to us, the people friendly, and the driving times minimal. Except for Fazo cracking his head open like a piggybank, this has been our most relaxed tour ever… So far. Now we venture into the unknown πŸ˜€
